AT&T TMobile Merger
AT&T agreed to buy T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom for $39 billion. The merger will produce the largest US carrier with more than 129 million subscribers. This is a compilation of the effects of the merger between AT&T and T-Mobile.

  • Better Broadband: AT&T and T-Mobile use the same GSM technology. This means T-Mobile customers will have quick access to the AT&T network and both will give a better broadband.
  • No more unlimited data plans: AT&T doesn’t offer unlimited data plan whereas T-Mobile does. This is going to affect T-Mobile customers.
  • No iPhone: There won’t be iPhone for the current T-Mobile customer but in the future there should be that option.
  • Higher fees: The acquisition will lead to extra fees especially for T-Mobile customers if AT&T is going to stick to T-Mobile’s unlimited plan and Wireless services.
  • No unlocking: T-Mobile offers customers unlock codes for their phones especially when customers are traveling out of the USA.
  • New rollover minutes: This is a new development for T-Mobile customers. T-Mobile customers will now have their unused minutes rollover to future months.
  • Rise of other Networks: MetroPCS charges a flat-rate unlimited calling and would probably benefit from this acquisition. Others like Cricket and Sprint could also benefit from the merger.
  • Unemployment Effect: The acquisition is going to affect some employees and possibly increase the unemployment in the Country.
  • New 4G Network: T-Mobile is bringing 4G into AT&T with this merger as T-mobile is planning to roll-out 4G during this Spring.
  • Change of phones: The two companies will have to upgrade their phones for the new Network.

This upcoming marriage between AT&T and T-Mobile is not really good for T-Mobile customers. I feel sorry for all T-Mobile customers.

  1. Yea there are some things in there that I can see current T-mobile customers filing a lawsuit over. Specaily for the people that have been with the company from the start as we will not put up with AT&T stopping all over us. We choose T-mo for a reason and to be forced into higher costs because of this leaves us a wide opening to take the giant AT&T down. Let’s hope that AT&T walks carefulling durring this and dosen’t do anything stupid.

  2. I feel sorry for T-mobile customers too.

  3. This is not what we want as T-mobile customers but what can we do when T-mobile is a small network.

  4. The AT&T/T-Mobile merger is dead. Most T-Mobile customers will be happy about that.
